CREATIVITY VOICE STUDIO

Voice Training ~ Vocal Therapy

STUDIO POLICIES:

ATTENDANCE:

Regular attendance is important and needs to be as consistent as possible for you to grow
as a vocalist and artist.  If you want to improve you must take your vocal studies seriously.

A Planned or Excused Absenc
e:

An excused absence requires you to let me know, one week in advance that you can not make the following lesson.  In order to hold your place on the calendar, I will need to have at least one week notice.
Cancellation made during the week of a scheduled lesson, does not fall under planned absence.

An Unplanned/Unexcused Absence:

An Illness or family emergency is the only allowed absences that will permit a make-up session.  Please cancel no less than 24 hours before your lesson - sudden illness will be excused on a case by case basis-only for on-going students and must be made 12 hrs in advance.

ALL UNEXCUSED ABSENCES ARE CHARGED AT THE FULL RATE.

 NO SHOWS ARE NEVER COOL!

If you 'no-show', you will need to pay for the next 4 lessons in advance, before you will be placed on the calendar.

If you have any questions, please ask.  I try to be flexible whenever possible and am open to your input.

Payment Options:

The first lesson is payable in cash only.

Payment via credit card with PayPal is preferred.
To make a credit card payment please click:

Pay For Lessons

Please allow 5 business days for credit card payment processing.

On-going lessons are paid by the month and must be paid in advance.

Chronic late payments are not tolerated.  Late fee: $10 per each instance of a late payment may apply.

LESSON REQUIREMENTS:

Please be on time and prepared for each lesson.  Regular practice is important if you want to improve our skills and the sound of your voice.  Like any other instrument, the voice requires immense respect, time to develop and the willingness to continue on, even when you don't feel like practicing.

Please bring water and begin to get in the habit of drinking water when singing/practicing.
Plan to choose 2 - 3 songs that you are drawn to and let me now after the first couple of weeks.

CANCELLATIONS:

Check your schedules carefully each month!   If you decide to participate in an activity that conflicts with the scheduled lesson time AFTER monthly tuition has been paid, I will not make-up the lesson.  This includes  but is not limited to all after school activities, community activities, vacations, etc.

PRACTICE TIME:

I recommend that you find a place to practice that is private and away from
insensitive comments.  Give yourself the space and permission to sound off or just
not up to par for the first 3 months while practicing.  You are in a process and working out
the bugs, so to speak, is part of it.

Practicing in a mirror is best.  Watch your posture, stance, breath control, facial expressions, mouth, placement of your voice, etc and begin to develop an awareness of your instrument.  It is there to be controlled and directed by you.  Please plan to practice at least 30 minutes a day to start.  After 3 months, at least 45 minutes building eventually to 1.5 hrs 3 - 4X per week if you intend to become a professional vocalist.

It is a good practice to keep notes from lessons and to note anything that comes up during
your practice time and keep it in a voice journal.  Plan to bring it to each lesson.

MUSIC:

I encourage each student to purchase their own music.  It is important to know the
music you are planning to sing.  We can go over it together.  A good local resource
is Magic Flute in San Rafael.  They have excellent customer service for searching
for music.  Their website is:
Magic Flute

Also, if you need backing tracks an inexpensive practice CD can be made for you.
If you prefer to purchase a pre-made backing track visit the following websites and choose
a CD that has tunes in your range.
   Pocket Songs Website

Hal Leonard Website

Please bring your music, accompaniment tracks or practice CD to each lesson.

Please to do not assume that I have the original music.
